Founders

The Romance Writers Foundation (RWF) was founded by Tracy Tappan, a bestselling and award-winning Romance Author, Jeff Tappan a retired Navy Captain and viral marketing expert, and Ray Drasnin, a nationally known Public Relations expert for Fortune 500 clients and CEO of Foundations Makers.

 

The three combined forces and unique skill-sets to create RWF, whose mission is to unite Romance authors, readers, their passion for romance and their desire to support their favorite causes!

 

 

 

Tracy Tappan

Tracy is the bestselling and award-winning author of gritty romance, her books spanning genres across paranormal (The Community series), military romantic suspense (The Wings of Gold series), and medieval historical (The Baron’s War trilogy). Tracy actively supports numerous causes such as the USO, Wounded Warriors, Guide Dogs for the Blind, and now any and all causes sponsored by RWF! During nearly twenty-five years spent as a naval aviator’s wife, she lived all over the United States and in Europe, enjoying seven years overseas in the diplomatic community, first in Rome then in Madrid, until she settled back in San Diego. Tracy holds a master’s degree in Marriage, Family, and Child Counseling (MFCC), and enjoys a good glass of wine.

 

 

 

Ray Drasnin

Ray is a seasoned public relations professional with more than 20 years of agency experience. His firm has managed many high-profile clients including Mrs. Fields Cookies, American Express, GE, hang Ten, Ken Blanchard and many other fortune 500 clients. Ray is the founder of Purple Penguin PR and Foundation Makers, who actively supports numerous charitable causes, and now has set his sights on building RWF into a powerful platform where the entire romance community, authors, readers, editors, and publishers can band together to have a real and powerful impact on charitable causes that they support!  Ray is a frequent speaker at marketing seminars, universities, business groups, associations and TED Talks.

 

 

 

Jeff Tappan

Jeff is a retired Navy Captain, helicopter pilot, and viral marketing expert. In addition commanding an operational helicopter squadron during 9-11, he was the Chairman for the National Helicopter Association Scholarship Fund, a non-profit organization established to assist those in need of financial assistance in their pursuit of higher education, as well as numerous other charitable causes. Jeff brings with him 30 years of leadership, program management, and a unique Internet marketing skill-set that includes viral and social network marketing. He now turns his full attention, patriotic and philanthropic drive toward building RWF into a powerful platform for romance authors and readers to support all their favorite causes.
